How would you define crime? Based on your definition, which model do you relate to (consensus or conflict)? Why?

Societies define crime as the breach of one or more rules or laws for which some governing authority or force may ultimately prescribe a punishment (Crime, 2023).

As far as consensus and conflict modeling goes, I would have to say I would choose conflict. My reasoning is I feel that the court of law or any other type of law enforcement should take whatever matters it takes to bring justice. It may cost money or it may cost fame, but I think when it comes to putting a criminal behind bars, it is a price one should take. Prisons are concerned about overcrowding and cops are concerned about putting away criminal. The way I look at it is if someone is committing a crime they must do the time. If overcrowding is the issue, the government should do what it takes to make sure there is room for all the criminals we have in this world.
