In the 19th century, the camera was a revolutionary invention. Did the invention of the camera change the arts? Why or why not? Is there a relationship between movements such as realism and impressionism and the camera?

The invention of camera has changed arts and has even made some people lose interest in artistic works. For example, a college in Alberta has decided to remove Arts and music courses from its curriculum because less people are enrolling for this course. People now prefer taking pictures with cameras that shows exactly how they look preferred to artists paintings that are only portraits. Even now, photographers have applications that enables them to edit pictures the way they like. Also, it has changed arts because people prefer to see their own facial expressions during their special moment and only cameras can capture this not paintings that are done hours after the moment. In addition, people now see photography which is the art of taking pictures as a category of arts as there are now photography courses and some institutions call it art design courses.
