Line, color, hue, balance, form and perspective were some of the key concepts covered in this week’s tutorial. Use the example of a painting by Peter Paul Rubens and discuss how one or more of this week’s key concepts are featured in the painting. Identify the painting by title, and include citations for any material you’ve researched.

I decided to choose “Head of Medusa” because I was always fascinated by the mythology of the Medusa: http://www.peterpaulrubens.org/Head-Of-Medusa.html
The first thing I see when I look at this painting is the form of the art. Everything can be distinguished from snake, to the little bugs. Next the color fits this painting perfectly I believe, the snakes are brightly colored to pop out, the Medusas head is pale due to the creature being dead, and the blood coming from her decapitated head is a sort of deep ruby red, creating mystery in my opinion. Overall I think this painting is great, I really enjoy the fine detail the painting brings out.
