What is critical thinking? How is it different from any other type of thinking?

Critical thinking is an activity of the brain performed at a high level of clarity that can be communicated to others. Communication can assume different forms, i.e. languages, images, art, and so forth; however, language is the primary form of human communication. The continuous high level of clarity that critical thinking requires is what it makes critical thinking different from other type of thinking such as misthinking. Misthinking is the exact opposite of critical thinking as it includes confusion that usually leads people to wrong conclusions or decisions (Kirby & Goodpaster, 2007).
